Abstract: Remote measurement and control is a term being used more commonly every day, particularly in the gas industry. It is no longer necessary to travel to various points of a gas distribution system, nor to have men stationed at remote locations, in order to make measurements or carry out the necessary control operations. Telemetering can do a very efficient job of this, bringing measurements and control functions from remote points to central dispatch locations. Here the dispatcher has before him the complete picture of conditions existing throughout the gas system, and has at his finger tips means for making any necessary changes in gas flow or pressure anywhere in the system.
