Title: A New Piston Gauge Operating Mode For Defining Very Low Differential Pressures

Abstract: Conventional piston gauges are limited in the lowest pressure that can be defined, in defining negative gauge pressure and in defining pressure at static pressures other than atmosphere or vacuum. This paper describes the development and practical implementation of a technique to use a commercial gas piston gauge to cover these difficult areas in a typical calibration laboratory. The principles of the method and its hardware and software implementation are presented. The measurement uncertainty associated with use of the method is also discussed.
