Abstract: A method is presented for prediction of liquid condensed from natural gases in operating gas pipelines. From a typical gas chromatographic analysis of the single phase gas, coupled with a single chilled mirror or other dew point temperature measurement of the gas at pipeline pressure, the gas analysis is extended mathematically so the Peng-Robinson equation of state will match the single measured dew point. The resultant extended analysis then can be used with confidence of reasonable accuracy for liquid condensed, especially near the dew point. The benefit to the industry of this method is the fact that (1) the extreme accuracy required for the use of an extended analysis chromatogram is avoided and (2) the accuracy requirements for the equation of state used are diminished.
