Abstract: Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) represent one mechanism by which measurement quality and traceability to a national measurement system can be achieved when they are properly used. As a part of its congressional mandate the goals of NIST are to develop reference and definitive methods of analysis, certify, issue standards and assure their effective use in the measurement community thereby helping to achieve accurate measurements in the U.S. and throughout the world.
