Abstract: Mention to your neighbor that you are employed by the natural gas industry, and he will probably conjure up a vision of pipelines, pumping stations, and large tangles of yard piping. It is doubtful that John Q. Public thinks of the natural gas industry as high tech. Employees of the natural gas industry are, however, increasingly exposed to technologies which use electronic devices. Some reasons for switching from traditional pneumatic methods to newer electronic devices are Readability Digitized infonnation Is easier to read than analog scales. Information Exchange Electronics offer the ability to transmit information easily both within and outside of the company. Economics Electronics are less expensive to mass produce than their pneumatic counterparts. Expandability Electronics make it easier to add new data or information points to an existing station.
