Abstract: A densitometer Is a device designed to measure the density or specific weight of a substance: solid, liquid or gas. This paper will be limited to the measurement of liquid and gas or fluid, densities. Density Is the mass of a substance per unit volume, while specific weight is the weight per unit volume. For simplicity, we will consider mass and weight as the same and use the term density throughout the paper.
