Abstract: The slide rule is a great aid in solving problems in multiplication, division, proportion, squares, square roots, etc. When the accuracy of the results required permits the use of the slide rule it becomes a great time saver. However, should the accuracy of the results be more exacting than the slide rule is capable of giving, it may be used to speedily check the calculations which have already been made. The accuracy of a slide rule is determined largely by its size. The Mannheim 10 inch rule gives three significant figures correctly. The 20 inch rule give.s from three to rour figures correctly.
