Abstract: Ultrasonic transit time flow measurement has been available to the natural gas industry for the last 20 years with a serious acceptance of the technology taking place after the competition of AGA 9 in 1997. In response to the completion of AGA 9, manufacturers begun to fill the measurement requirements with varying solutions and flow meter configurations. As part of the new measurement technology new terminology was introduced into the market place to describe the function of the flow ultrasonic transit time meter. Many times those descriptions were specific to a supplier or manufacturer but not necessarily part of any standardized industrial lexicon.
