Abstract: Pressure sensitivity of turbine gas meters has been a well observed phenomenon since the inception of these devices for use in the natural gas industry. However, very little published experimental data was available for study until the recent years. Due to ever increasing energy costs, the natural gas industry is paying much more attention to improving the accuracy of natural gas flow measurement. Regulators in many countries either mandate or recommend that turbine gas meters shall be calibrated dose to their intended operating pressures in order to minimize measurement error caused by pressure variation. This paper explains the dependency of the kfactor of turbine gas meters on pressure, and the relationship between operating line pressure and the error performance of turbine meters.
