Title: Determination Of Btu And Volume Reduction In Plants

Abstract: When natural gas is processed in a plant for the total or partial removal of some components, a reduction in volume and total heat content occurs which must be accounted for. Because of the differing heating values per unit volume of the various components, the percentage of volume shrinkage will be different from the percentage of heat content shrinkage. Normally the latter will be larger than the former. This paper will outline a method for calculating the reduction of volume or heat content and the allocation of products and overall shrinkage.
