Abstract: The concept of measuring the well production is probably as old as the first oil discovery itself. The gas and liquid produced from a well need to be measured with acceptable accuracy for better accountability and for optimum field, production and reservoir management. The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has developed standards of measurement accuracy that addresses concerns including royalty, equity, reservoir engineering, declining production, and aging equipment The definition of these accuracy standards includes the maximum allowable uncertainty of monthly volume For field allocation, the Maximum uncertainty of monthly volume relates to the limits applicable to equipment and/or procedures used to determine the total monthly volume.
