Abstract: This paper describes the selection criteria for processor-based control systems for natural gas compressor stations. Main emphasis is given 10 matching the selection of a control system to a cost-effective operation for different user requirements. The main user requirements are as follows: Improved fuel efficiency Improved maintenance Reduced personnel costs The importance given by users to these factors differs and is met by selecting the appropriate features of the control systems. Applications to equip existing and new stations are described, I-xamples of economic consideration for the selection of control system features are presented.
