Abstract: What are the organizations that have developed or currently are developing standards for the gas measurement industry? The majority of the adopted standards that cover gas measurement have been developed by AGA (American Gas Association), API (American Petroleum Institute), ISO (International Organization for Standardization), and GPA (Gas Processors Association). Other organizations such as ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) are also involved. Many times these organizations jointly sponsor or indorse a common standard. One example of this is a booklet named Orifice Metering of Natural Gas. This booklet is referred to as ANSI/API 2
