Abstract: Conventional vortex flowmeters suffers performance dete rioration at low Reynolds number ( Re D 30000) owing to piping vibrations and hydrodynamic n oise. Under these conditions the strength of the shed vortices is not sufficient enough to be captured by conventional frequency detection techniques. The present study employs a pair of piezoelectric sensors located downstream the bluff body to capture the convection of the shed vortices. The convection velocity of the shed vortices is computed using a novel de lay time estimation algorithm. Conventionally the delay time is estimated using correla tion methods.
