Abstract: Railcar Operations, at times, seems to be an enigma within the oil & gas supply chain. Often when professionals seek out recommended practices and/or guidelines specific for rail application they find the solution is using adjacent references or indirect applicable recommended practices and/or guidelines. This paper will highlight an operational overview of loading crude oil into railcars, commonly referenced standards/recommended practices, and common transfer operations within the oil & gas industry. This course was created to help industry professionals navigate the complexity and convolution of rail loading operations and how it relates to metrology.
