Author: T. G. Kimball

Abstract: In any gas company, no matter how large or how small, gas metering is one of the major problems and should receive study and attention both from the stand- point of maintenance and revenue. The gas meter is considered the cash register of the company, as it registers the amount of gas the customer uses. from this amount the revenue is computed, and is shown at the end of the year as income of the company. This figure is used as a basis for taxes, profit, dividends, and other things for which the company is asked to furnish figures. On the other side of the ledger we have the cost of the upkeep or maintenance which must be considered. If this is too high too much of the income will be used, and the dividends will be small.
