Abstract: There exists a bias between commonly used on-line and laboratory viscometers when measuring dilbit and heavy crude oil. For these products, the measurement uncertainty can often be significantly higher than typical specifications, particularly for the on-line instruments. Proper sample handling along with other additional factors can help minimize this bias and uncertainty of the measurement.
