Abstract: The turbine meter has been used in gas measurement for over ninety years. In the last fifty years, extensive R&D has generated significant advances in gas turbine meter technology. This, in combination with the experience gained from vast field testing and applications over a wide variety of operating conditions have resulted in significant improvements in meter performance and reliability. Outstanding progress has been made in rotor and flow passage design thrust load balancing bearing selection, protection and lubrication internal flow conditioning high pressure calibration field checking national and international standards and other aspects of the meter and its use. Today, the gas turbine meter is accepted and recognized for accurate and reliable custody transfer in the gas industry.
