Title: Ultrasonic Meters For Residential And Commercial Applications

Abstract: An ultrasonic meter is a type of inferential meter. This means that the meter does not directly measure the volume of gas passing through it, rather it infers the volume based upon some measured characteristic. Orifice meters use pressure drop to infer volume, turbine meters use the speed of the rotor to infer volume, while ultrasonic meters use the speed of sound waves to infer volume. Ultrasonic meters have been around for many years however, their use for the measurement of natural gas is fairly new.
