Abstract: Most people could very quickly tell us what the temperature is, but really havent given much thought to what temperature is. Temperature is the measure of the ability of a system to transfer heat. Heat can be transferred between systems if they are at different temperatures. A system may be a room, a building, the outdoors, the eartl the sun, and so on. Some systems applicable to orifice measurement are: the gas stream, piping, surrounding air, the ground, and others.
