Abstract: Gas chromatography has become the most powerful technique for the analysis of volatile materials. Analysis involves the separation, identification and measurement of the components in a sample. Gas chromatography offers the analyst good separating power and measurement. Identification by chromatography often requires the use of supplementary spectroscopic methods. Because this course has been presented for several years, and because chromatography is so well established, we shall very briefly review the essentials of the method and then consider some of the newer developments which are of interest to measurement personnel in the gas industry.
