Abstract: Each time that the custody of crude oil is transferred from one party to another there are several things that must be known about the transferred crude oil before the accounting for the oil can be accomplished. First, the number of barrels or the volume of oil that is Involved 1n the transfer must be established. This volume Is a gauged or metered amount of oil that has been corrected to a temperature of sixty degrees Fahrenheit (60F). Second, the API gravity, which is the observed gravity corrected to sixty degrees Fahrenheit (60F), must be known. Third, the volume of non-hydrocarbons or the amount of sediment and water that is present in the total transferred volume must be known. Fourth, the value or the price per barrel must be known. After these facts are known, the monies that are to be exchanged may be determined as follows:
