Abstract: This paper states the current methods and practices for measuring the thermal energy content of fuel gases. The information included here has been collected by surveys of A.G.A. members, and reports or studies of A.G.A. Committees. The scope of the paper includes developmental work and the use of heating value information, as well as methodology, equipment, and calculations. Principally, this paper will address combustion calorimetry and gas chromatography with a few comments on flame temperature sensing.
