Abstract: While the basic development of the turbine meter goes back approximately 30 to 40 y e a r s , i ts impact on the petroleum industry has only taken p l a c e in the last 12 to 14 y e a r s . Even over t i l i s Lime span, the true acceptance of t u r b i ne meters has been slow to take place and i s , in f a c t , just y e t t i n g a firm foothold in the i n d u s t r y the l a s t 3 or 4 y e a r s . The o f f i c i al r e c o g n i t i o n of the turbine meter as an approved measurement device for the petroleum industry took place with the p u b l i c a t i o n in March, 1970
