Abstract: Infrared has been known since 1800, but until 1939 saw usage only as a way to measure the heat content of the stars. In 1939 the Germans used it on rifles to shoot at night. After that, Navies used it to signal between ships. Engineers have determined that every item in the Universe radiates infrared energy in accordance with its temperature. Thus, our electricians have known that bad connections generate excessive heat but had no way of feeling them. In the Pulp and Paper Industry, insurance records indicate that one out of every four claims over S25K was the result of electrical failure/
