Abstract: The Appalachian Basin has been a desirable region for investment in the exploration and production of natural gas. Major reasons making this areafinancially attractive include shallow wells (less than 6,000 feet), long production life (in excess of 20 years), high BTU content gas, and a consumer market close to the East Coast. To maintain the successful economic growth of the industry in this region, new reserves must be discovered and current and future wells must be produced to their maximum potential. In order to discover, produce, and develop these reserves, all departments within a producing company must work together and share all available information. One key item to be shared is the production data.
