Abstract: Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) is a combination gas and electric utility that serves Central and Northern California. The gas portion of the company includes both transmission and distribution. A portion of the distribution system is designated as Low Pressure. This portion of the distribution system operates at pressures below % psig (nominally 8 - 10 in. wc ) and connects directly to customers without house regulators. In an effort to provide safe and reliable natural gas to these customers PG&E initiated a project in 1994 to provide real-time monitoring of these Low Pressure systems utilizing its existing Gas SCADA System. The project was completed in 1996.
