Abstract: When gas is processed in a plant, it changes in several ways. First, the volume is reduced by some measurable amount second, the composition changes so that the gas consists almost exclusively of methane and third, the energy content is significantly reduced. These changes are a direct result of the plants primary objective, which is to convert lower-value gas to highervalue liquids. The amount of energy used to accomplish this is referred to as Plant Btu Reduction or PBR. This paper will attempt to explain the significance of PBR and to demonstrate its calculation.
