Abstract: This paper identifies Public Service Electric and Gas as the largest utility in New Jersey serving electric and gas in the 2500 square mile area between New York City and Philadelphia. Described is the 30 year journey from steel services, though copper tubing service inserts, to medium density, mechanically joined plastic for insert and direct burial services. It looks to be future and the possible extension of electrofusion, now used on mains, to service tubing connections.
