Title: Velocity Profile Sampling In Large Stack & Flare Gas Piping

Abstract: Large stacks and flare gas lines are commonly measured using path-averaging technologies (ultrasonic meters) and discrete point-averaging meters (averaging pitot tubes). These flow meters are calibrated and verified insitu using pitot traverse sampling. Theoretical velocity profiles are numerically integrated and compared to Centroid-of-equal-areas, Chebyshev, and Gauss Legendre Quadrature averaging techniques. The number of sampling points, sampling methodology, and uncertainty analyses are plotted against Reynolds number dependent powerlaw profiles. Swirling and skewed velocity profiles are also included in the analyses.
