Abstract: Polyethylene pipe is the predominant piping material utilized in new construction and replacement of gas distribution mains in the U.S. today. To date, the use of large-diameter polyethylene for insert renewal of natural gas distribution piping has been limited. This technology, well established through use in municipal and industrial applications, offers significant potential for reduction of replacement costs while complying with appropriate code requirements.
