Abstract: Training is becoming increasingly important in the gas industry for several reasons: 1. Our hiring practices are different than they used to be. The educational backgrounds of new employees are not as extensive as they were previously, 2. Our promotional practices are changing. A greater burden for providing opportunities to employees to learn the requirements of the next job lies with management than formerly. 3. Equipment, tools and technology are all more complex than they used to be. 4. Errors in operating practices are evaluated more frequently and criticized more vehemently than ever before. 5. The consumer expects better performance from us today than ever before.
