Abstract: The purpose of this presentation is to explain some of the considerations that go into planning and executing a portable gas supply operation using Liquied Natural Gas (LNG). Gas utility personnel have been safely performing portable LNG operations in the United States since the 1970s. Transgas, National Grid, and many other gas utilities and pipelines that have used portable LNG for planned maintenance outages for several decades. LNG is an odorless, colorless liquid form of methane at -260 deg. F. LNG has the most thermal energy per unit weight of any hydrocarbon fuel. Due to the price differential and clean environmental differences between natural gas and oil in the past ve years, LNG is becoming a very popular commodity for transportation and thermal energy consumers in the US and the world.
