Abstract: Fluid measurement is normally done under flowing conditions using a meter. Since a meters output can change (from debris, mechanical wear, etc.) reverification of its readout should be checked periodically against an accepted standard, The standard for verifying meter throughput is to check it against a known-volume. This knownvolume check of a meter is called proving and over the years many different devices have been used as provers (master meters, weigh tanks, tank gauging, etc.). A relative newcomer to the field of proving which offers a faster, less troublesome, less expensive, and more accurate means of flow measurement is the Mechanical Displacement Prover.
