Abstract: The Flexflo valve is not new, having been developed in the mid-1940s. It is a valve that merits some attention as a pressure reducing valve, a relief valve, a throttling back pressure valve, or a flow control valve. The operating member is an expandable tube. This tube Is stretched over a cylindrical metal core having a series of longitudinal slots at each end, with a separating barrier between. Action of the expansible tube is determined by controlling the differential pressure across the tube. It can be compared with a globe valve that is spring loaded to close and uses a diaphragm to control the action of the valve. The synthetic rubber tube acts as both the diaphragm and the inner valve. The tube is made from a Grove formulated synthetic elastomer especially compounded to as sure a high degree of tear and abrasion resistance, flexibility, and strength.
