Abstract: Due to present day gas accounting procedures based on accepted standards, it has become increasingly important to those engaged in gas measurement that they know the basic concepts surrounding the physical characteristics and conditions of gases. Lets briefly discuss them. When subjected to a change in pressure the volume of any substance is changed, but the change in volume of a solid or liquid is usually very small. However, in the case of a gas, a change in pressure results in a considerable change in volume. Since, by definition,
