Abstract: AS THE COST OF NATURAL GAS INCREASES, SO DOES THE REQUIREMENT FOR MORE ACCURATE MEASUREMENT. BEFORE THE 1970S THE MEASUREMENT OF LARGE VOLUMES OF NATURAL GAS WAS PERFORMED BY ORIFICE METERS OR LARGE CAPACITY POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT METERS. WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TURBINE METER IN THE 1950S AND ITS SUBSEQUENT ACCEPTANCE INTO THE GAS INDUSTRY IN THE 1970S, ANOTHER GOD MEASUREMENT TOOL WAS ACQUIRED.
