Abstract: Within the United States, some 17 trillion standard cubic feet of gas are produced, transported, and distributed to customers each year. This gas must be metered several times as it is purchased and resold by various companies, and finally to the end user. It is essential that the metering of gas flows be accurate, reliable, and efficient. The goal of the Metering Research Facility (MRF) program is to improve the technology for gas flow measurement at field installations where the business of buying and selling gas takes place.
