Abstract: In recent years there have been several incidents in the natural gas pipeline industry that have caused an increased level of scrutiny of how natural gas pipeline companies conduct their daily operations. Local, state and federal regulatory agencies are examining not only company procedures, but also the laws and regulations that govern how natural gas systems are installed, maintained and operated. Topics of discussion in this paper will discuss the following: Current government regulations Incidents and the investigation process Changes in gas industry practices
