Abstract: This paper presents a discussion of the benefits of microprocessor-based instrumentation to calibration laboratory personnel. The impact of fl design on calibration concepts and techniques is discussed. New measurement concepts created by #-based equipment are contrasted to older methods and the evolution of operational concepts is outlined.
