Abstract: In May nineteen hundred and ninety three, Brooklyn Union began to replace two thousand five hundred feet of twenty inch, high pressure (fifteen PSIG) main in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, an area spanning six city blocks and crossing three major avenues. Installed in nineteen hundred and twenty seven, the section of bare steel main had a series of leaks over the past several years.
