Abstract: This paper examines the type of construction and maintenance vehicles currently used by Distribution, construction, and maintenance crews. A survey of twenty-eight major utilities was made, and the results of this survey are compared to a similar survey conducted in 1977. An attempt is also made to identify the major factors that must be considered in designing a modern construction and maintenance vehicle.
