Abstract: The natural gas industry has seen many changes lately. Producers and pipeline companies have seen, downsizing and reorganization through mergers and acquisitions, and the influx of electronic gas measurement, and real time data acquisition. These changes would lead one to believe that the need for witnessing and field-testing of natural gas measurement equipment would become a thing of the past. This is quite the contrary. The advances in technology in the last decade have put a computer and cellular phone at everyones fingertips literally and increased the need for electricity, thus the need for natural gas to generate this electricity. With this increased demand for natural gas, the logistics involved in acquiring it, and the profit differential between these two, the need for witnessing orifice meter calibration and field-testing is more important than ever.
