Abstract: During the eighteenth century, it was discovered through the efforts of three men of science Bernoulli, Torricelli, and Venturi) that the pressure of a flowing fluid varies as its velocity changes. When a flowing fluid is caused to speed up by restricting the cross sectional area of the flow stream, a portion of the pressure energy is converted into velocity energy and the pressure drops. This relationship has been found to follow the law:
