Abstract: The new API, A.G.A., GPA Orifice Metering document represents a significant improvement over the previous editions of this ANSI standard. The changes that were made to reach these improvements were all based on the latest available data that had been gathered by various researchers both in the United States and in Europe. In a global sense, there were two types of changes that resulted from these efforts. The first were software changes or equation and procedural changes while the second were hardware changes which effect the mechanics of the device. In this paper only the software changes will be addressed as they will impact the largest quantity of meters that are currently in service.
