Abstract: The orifice meter is by far the most common tyre of meter used for field measurement at high pressure. The term field measurement, for this discussion, may be defined as the metering of any gas stream at a point in a gas producing area. Gas streams being metered may be either wet or dry, but their differences must be considered separately. Wet gas streams contain free liquid of water and heavy hydrocarbons which cause many problems in field measurement. Dry gas streams are free from these troublesome liquids and the water vapor content has been reduced below hydrate formation temperatures.
