Abstract: The Trans-Alaskan Pipeline (TAPS), which is operated by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, transports approximately 1.6 million barrels per day of North Slope crude froni Prudhoe Bay, 800 miles to the Marine Terminal at Valdez. Because of the large volumes of oil handled daily, small errors in measurement and sampling techniques have large dollar impacts on the Owners and shippers using the TAPS system.
