Abstract: The answer to the question Whats new in plastic pipe research? is, in part, shaped by the response to a closely-related question*, What else is there to learn about plastic pipe and fittings in order to assure their continued satisfactory performance in existing and future gas distribution piping systems?. Several times each year, the answers to these questions are sought by members of an A.G.A. Task Group of gas operating and engineering people that meet regularly to help shape the direction of the continuing plastic pipe research project that has been sponsored since 1960 by the American Gas Association at Battelle- Columbus.
