Title: Interchangeability Of Natural Gas And Propane-Air Mixtures

Abstract: The shortage of natural gas has created a situation where many gas utilities are using substitute natural gas (SNG) and imported hqucfied natural gas (LNG) to augment their supplies. Indications are that this will increase because of the large number of SNG and l.NG facilities being planned. Also, there are over 400 propane-air plants in operation by gas distibulion companies for peak shaving with the possibility that some will see future use for base load applications. The trend toward fuel gases different from traditional natural gas supplies has created a renewed interest in interchangeability - the ability of a fuel gas to be substituted for the gas normally used without interfering with the proper operation of appliances.
