Abstract: With the ever expanding market for natural gas, the building of new transcontinental pipelines to these markets and the growing complexity of these problems, there is the need for closer control of all of the operations which go to make up these activities. Measurement and control of gas heating value plays an ever increasing important part in the transfer of gas from the producer and pipelines to the local gas utilities.
